B.E.D.A. Day 22: Makeup Clean Out!

Hello, and welcome back to B.E.D.A!

Today I have decided to clean out my makeup collection.  I have never done this, and although I haven't been a makeup lover for very long I know there are more than a few things that should probably go!

First up is this, the Maybelline Bouncy Blush in the colour 15 Rose Petal.  If you've followed this blog for awhile, you might remember that I have despised this since I bought it.  For some reason though I hang onto it.  Now I am finally just throwing it out.  The formula is terrible, the colour payoff is awful, and I find it impossible to use.  I'm sorry Maybelline, I like most of your other products!

Next up are some questionable lip products.  On the left is the Rimmel Moisture renew lipstick.  This is in the shade Crystal Mauve, and it's a testament to how old this is because that shade has been discontinued for awhile now!  This was the first lipstick I ever bought for use outside of dance, and I used to use it every day.  Now it's getting a little too old for me to feel comfortable using it; it's definitely past it's prime.  I wish they still made this shade, I would buy it again if they did!

Then there are two more 'chapstick' type products.  The EOS balm is getting a little old and questionable for a lip product, so out it must go.  The Maybelline Baby Lips was all melted and odd when I opened the packaging, and it doesn't work as well as ones I had previously bought.  Obviously something went wrong there, so I'm going to (finally) throw this out and just buy a new one.

Here's a bit of a mish-mash.  I've got the e.l.f. Brightening Eyeliner in black on the left, which I don't like the formulation of and so never used.  There's an incredibly old Stila Lip Glaze in the colour Blush which I got as a freebie when I bought something.  It's very old and should have been thrown out ages ago.  And then there's a Quo Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in the shade Opal that you might recognize from when I did "Bought It, Forgot It" posts.  I really don't like this, it doesn't look nice and the glitter is so chunky that it's scratchy.  Since I never use it and it's getting old, I believe it's time to toss it.

Here are some eye products next.  On the right is a Hard candy eyeshadow single in the shade 515 Magnetic.  The formulation of this is so chalky and impossible to blend, I never use it.  The fall-down is also really bad, I can't use it unless I want to look like a panda.

In the middle is a Maybelline gel liner that I really loved, but it's dried out.  I was a dummy and didn't close the cap all the way once, so it didn't last as long as I think it would have if I have taken better care of it.  I would buy this again though!

And finally I have a sample pot of the Lancome Absolute Eye Replenishing Cream.  I don't like this, it makes my eyes burn and I don't find it does anything for the area around my eyes.  That being said, I have used the one targeted at more mature skin and loved it, so it might just be this pot.  But since I have such a negative reaction to this, it needs to go. It might just be getting old and that's why it hurts.

I'm also getting rid of the Maybelline Great Lash.  The reason I'm tossing this is mostly because of the bad memories associated with it.  I bought it for a funeral, and throwing it out is symbolic to me, like I'm purging sadness out of my life.  The formula isn't that great either, so I don't feel one ounce of guilt tossing this.

Two more eyeliners are going out too.  First is the Merle Norman Soft Touch eyeliner.  This is very creamy, but I find it gets everywhere when I apply it.  I hate the mess it makes, a mess that is usually irreversible.  Luckily this was a sample my mom got when she bought some other products (which she really liked), so it didn't cost anything.

Beside it is the Rimmel ScandalEyes liquid eyeliner.  This was okay.  That formula wasn't that great, I found it very thin, and it dried out really quickly (hence why it is being thrown out).  I wouldn't buy this again, there are much better liners from the drugstore.

As well as cleaning, I have been trying to use up products as well.  I finished off the Clean & Clear eye makeup remover, which I really liked.  I would definitely buy this again, especially if it's on sale.  It's very similar to my Lancome eye makeup remover that I love, but with a much more desirable price tag.

I also have used up my Quo brush cleanser.  I really liked this, I thought it did a great job of cleaning my brushes.  The spray nozzle is also a huge bonus for me, I don't want a cleanser I have to dip the brush in.  That's a great way to spread germs and make the cleanser gross.

So that's everything that's been cleared out today!  As I pack my life into boxes, I realize I need to use up stuff.  If I waited a week this post could potentially be MUCH longer :P

Hope to see you again tomorrow!
xoxo Laura

  1. I recently cleaned out my collection as well. I was pretty ruthless lol. Anything that I haven't touched or don't use I threw out or gave to people who will use it. I don't have enough space to keep extra stuff that isn't getting any love!
